Do you have to be a "resident" of JU for a determined period of time before your recent articles and top articles are listed? Or am I supposed to put those in myself?

Yeah, mine haven't updated in quite a while. When it starts working again, all that info will be posted automatically.

Well, here is number 3 saying I think they are on the fritz as well. My most recent article is from about 3 months ago. According to the list.

Yep they have been down for around 2 weeks or so since JU had it's big down time fiasco.

That was one of the things they disabled to speed things up. For awhile there, NOTHING showed, and now they're locked in at whatever was there when they froze it.

No, what you're talking about is something completely different (and "good" is very subjective). The JU homepage has a tab that you can click on to see the top articles at the time. This is based on traffic. Featured articles, which are chosen by Draginol, are often in the "Top Articles" list on the home page.
On each bloggers' side bar are a list of their personal top articles (traffic-based), and newest articles. These features are not updating and have not been for a while. Since HC is new, her side bar has no articles to list.
