Random thoughts... snippets of life in rural New England

I'm trying to figure out how to compress a wma file so that it doesn't take 15 minutes to download. I have one uploaded Link, but it's so big! Is there an easy way to compress the file? I've seen clips of similar length be close to 5mg... but mine is like 36! Any help y'all can offer will be greatly appreciated!

Put a really heavy book on it and that should squeeze it down some.

Pfft...that is my only computer expertise......

These questions usually get lots of answers at night for some reason...so bump it if you don't get a reply!

Have a good one.

Are you creating the file? There are different settings for wma files that determine the quality/size ratio. If it's a file that already been created you can probably convert it to a small, lower quality version. Check Tools->Options in Media Player.

Aaaaaargh. I still can't figure this out. I downloaded a program called winLAME, and I thought it had converted it... but it only saved about a ten second clip. No wonder it was only 4KB... LMBO.

Still looking for suggestions... thanks!

You need to be more specific.  What program are you using to create the file?

You can use Windows Movie Maker and adjust the compression to make it smaller.

You can try using 'Audacity'. It's free and allows you to adjust the 'size' and 'compression' and is relatively easy to use.

stick it in the wmp skins folder
